About Event

What if the most radical thing you did this year was let something rot?

As an official Future Days side event, Sporesight invites you to a mini masterclass in Growing the Decomposition Economy.

Ease out of your week in a peaceful Copenhagen garden, present in nature. Together we will learn from fungi to let go, rot a little, and practice the ancient art of decomposition: how to unlock new forms of value by breaking things down.

Decomposition allows us to re-frame the "collapse" narrative. Old paradigms aren’t just failing; they’re actively in the way. As the world reaches for narratives of metacrises and collapse, we’re choosing stories of possibility. Embracing decay, we intentionally rot what isn’t serving good futures - freeing up nutrients for what comes next.

In our mini masterclass, we will decompose the systems of DEATH. In this tactile, playful and hands-in-mycelium session, we’ll apply fungal logic to economic thinking, dismantling and decomposing the economies of human remains, grief, ritual and legacy.

In nature, death isn't the end of life. Its part of a regenerative cycle. Inspired by decay, we will learn from fungi, nature’s most badass decomposers, how to practice decomposition for new forms of value.

You’ll ease away quietly radicalised with inspired possibility. Plus a new conceptual lens, a mindset shift, and a spark for practicing decomposition strategy in your work.

And, a mycelial gift to keep this alive in your home 🍄‍🟫

Who is this for? For the future designers, systems thinkers, imagination architects and mycophilic world builders. You don't need to know about economics, fungi, or regenerative thinking. You just need to be open to a decomposition intervention.

You'll be part of the first cohort contributing to Sporesight's real-world proof of decomposition strategy. Learnings from this session will be composted into our research, informing European organisations ready to transition. (Curious about how this works? Get in touch.)

What to expect:

  • Be in nature, take a beat, re-orient.

  • More hands than head work.

  • Embody a decomposer mushroom.

  • Make a mess with mycelium materials.

  • Leave with a practice to apply in your work.

  • And one thought to quietly dismantle economic assumptions.

  • Pastries & refreshments included!

Who are we? Sporesight connects foresight and fungal intelligence to imagine regenerative futures for organisations. We bring life-centric thinking into strategy, innovation, and futures design.

Your friendly facilitators:

  1. Jess Jorgensen - Sporesight Foundress, ex-Global Insight Lead and Agency Director, foresight strategist, regenerative educator, speaker, imagination architect, mycophile on a 5+ yr world fungi research tour [say hi on LinkedIn]

  2. Allyson Carroll - Cultural strategist, transition practitioner, and facilitator working at the intersection of business, futures and change [say hi on LinkedIn]

Yours in spores.

We love this work. Here are some generous things folks have had to say about previous Sporesight sessions:
