Mantra, Resonance & Return

Workshop with Radhika Vekaria

What if sound is something you are, felt in the body as much as heard? Long before it was music, sound served as medicine, prayer, and portal - a technology for shifting consciousness that predates language itself. Join Grammy®-nominated artist and teacher Radhika Vekaria for an immersive two-hour workshop built around direct, felt experience: exploring mantra and the living intelligence of sound, tested in your own body, breath, and voice.

In Person Only at the SF Dharma Collective, 2929 24th Street.

Through direct practice and philosophical insight, this session works with sound as an organising intelligence - refining focus, strengthening presence, and cultivating inner coherence. This is an active practice: mantra, mudra, and breath practice done together as a group.

You will explore:
– The relationship between sound and resilience
– The deeper meaning behind mantra
– Chant as a practice of clarity and courage
– Mudra and Nāda yoga as embodied extensions of the practice

Rooted in yogic philosophy and grounded in contemporary life, this immersion offers a transformative approach to cultivating steadiness, awareness and peace.

No prior experience is required.

As a child, Radhika Vekaria had a severe speech impediment — the words simply wouldn't come. So she found a different one. Music became the language that never faltered. "Where words faltered, sound revealed the truth," she says now. She was on track to study oncology at Oxford or Cambridge when sound pulled her somewhere else entirely, and she followed it without looking back.

What she builds today isn't a performance in the usual sense. It's a room, remade — voice, piano, and centuries of Sanskrit and Vedic tradition compressed into a single evening, until an audience stops watching and starts feeling something move in themselves. That instinct for staging comes from an unlikely place: a love for theater and time spent within Franco Dragone's theatrical India show in Germany, where she learned that a room can be built as deliberately as a song. Few artists working in sacred and devotional music carry that kind of theatrical training — fewer still pair it with classical piano, studied young and never set aside. Her vocal training runs equally deep: she studied under Meher Paralikar, a disciple of Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty of the Patiala-Kasur gharana — a Hindustani classical lineage that grounds even her most contemporary work. It's a combination that doesn't really exist anywhere else in this space. "I don't make music for you to see me," she says. "I make music for you to see yourself."
