From The Ground Up: A Live Conversation with Steve Sando
Doors - 6 PM
Talk - 7 PM
Welcome cocktail and bites included.
Steve Sando just wanted to grow beans. Two decades later, he's become one of the most important figures in American food.
Rancho Gordo started as a backyard project and became a movement: 25+ heirloom varieties, a direct trade network with Mexican farmers, fans like Thomas Keller and Deborah Madison, a Bean Club with a notorious waitlist, and a New York Times bestselling cookbook. All from a legume most people walked past in the grocery store.
Join us at Farm to People as Michael Ray Robinov — co-founder of Farm to People and host of the Know Your Food Podcast — sits down with Steve for a live recording. They'll talk about the obsession behind the beans, what it looks like to build real community around food, and how you get people to genuinely care about what they eat.
Julia Newberry, General Manager of Rancho Gordo, will also be in attendance to chat all things beans before and after the podcast. See you there!
The Know Your Food Series is a live-recorded podcast featuring conversations with farmers, chefs, journalists, and the people quietly shaping how we grow, cook, and think about food — hosted at our warehouse in Brooklyn.
