The Noticing Residency with Pankaj Mishra - September Cohort
The Noticing Residency September 25 to 27 · near Dancing Frog Habitat, Coorg · ten seats
Three days and two nights at the edge of a rainforest, built around one small dare: watch a leaf fall, the whole way down, then say what happened. Not what it meant. What happened.
We will walk, sit, wait, and watch - then work on the saying:
We notice first, make later.
Two things to know before you fill this: It is not a writing workshop, and nothing here promises to make you a better writer. And it is not a getaway.
There will be silence, some discomfort, and long stretches where nothing happens. Those stretches are the point.
You do not need to be a writer. You need your senses, three days, and some tiredness of the noise.
The residency is led by Pankaj Mishra, journalist and founder of FactorDaily's Journalism Lab. It is built around The Falling Leaf, a noticing practice he has carried to schools, writers and workplaces for the last two years.
It is hosted with Mycelium, a collective that protects forest the oldest way there is, by buying it and taking it off the market. Our first ground is Dancing Frog Habitat, seventy acres of old growth in Coorg where a river begins. Three kilometres of undisturbed water at the source, species found there and almost nowhere else, and one idea underneath it all: protect the beginning of a river, and everything downstream gets a chance to remember itself.
The residency lives beside this forest, and walks into it.
₹16,510 per person (plus taxes). That covers your shared stay, all meals, the sessions, walks and guides in the habitat, and a small noticing kit to carry home. Getting to Coorg is on you.
This form takes about five minutes. It is not a test. Plain answers are perfect.
What happens next. Registrations close September 5. We'll write to you by September 15, and you'll have a short call with Pankaj - less an interview, more a conversation to make sure this is what you think it is.
Don't fit this form? If the boxes above don't hold your reason for wanting to come, ignore them and write to us directly at experience@mycelium.today - we keep a couple of seats open for exactly this.
