It's (not) on you: Perspectives of applications of behavioural systems analysis for public policy - with JRC, Busara and FAO
This policy session will examine how behavioural systems analysis can strengthen public policy. Moving beyond theoretical discussions on intervention design, practitioners have long adopted a comprehensive approach to embedding behavioural insights into policy.
This panel—featuring experts from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Busara, and the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC)—will explore the potential of behavioural systems analysis to advance public policy and policymaking across diverse cultural contexts.
Using Busara’s behavioural systems analysis framework, the session will map how cognitive constraints and local environmental contexts influence decision-making, providing a robust approach to addressing systemic challenges and improving policy outcomes. It will also highlight how FAO and the JRC integrate behavioural insights into policy cycles, advocating for behavioural systems analysis to support sustainable public policy from inception to implementation. Case studies on reducing consumer food waste and addressing environmental impacts of gender-based practices will be presented.
