State of Young Philadelphia: Living, Working & Playing in Philly
A conversation on the forces shaping how young Philadelphians live, work, and play in our city.
State of Young Philadelphia is YIP's signature convening on the issues that matter most to young people building a life in this city. This year's theme — Living, Working & Playing in Philly — brings together City leaders, advocates, and practitioners for three fast-paced panel conversations on housing, jobs, and what Philadelphia's blockbuster 2026 (FIFA World Cup, MLB All-Star Game, America250) actually delivered for residents.
What we're covering:
Living: Philly needs more housing, and renters need relief now. Can we do both? Kellan White moderates a conversation on supply, rent, and what Philly can learn from New York with Jawad Pullin (Office of State Sen. Sharif Street), Ashlei Tracy (TSTC), and Justin Thornton (City of Philadelphia).
Working: Why do employers choose Philly, and why do they stay? Samira Sankaran (Governor’s Advisory Commission on Next Generation Engagement) moderates with Rachel Kurlander (Young Professionals Chamber), Thomas Young (World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia), and Zoraida Cordero (Sustainable Business Network).
Playing: The World Cup, the All-Star Game, America250. Now that the crowds have gone home, was it worth it? Ernest Owens moderates with State Sen. Joe Picozzi, Raheem Manning (City of Philadelphia), and Councilmember Rue Landau.
Light bites and networking included. Grab a ticket, bring a friend, and be part of the conversation shaping Philly's next chapter.
