About Event

Strategy + Design consultancy press PLAY is proud to collaborate with its longtime partner, BOLD Workshop Architecture, to convene conversations about topics that matter.

As part of this effort, we are proud to present: "Art, Architecture and Alliteration" - a discussion about the intersection of creative fields and what craftspeople can learn from one another.

Our second session of the season will explore the role the built environment plays in crafting immersive arts and culture experiences throughout our city and beyond.

We are delighted to feature an expert panel, including:

  • Chris Lorway: As President and CEO of the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Chris brings senior leadership experience across a broad range of artistic disciplines in both Canadian and international contexts. As a consultant with AMS Planning and Research and AEA Consulting, Chris shaped the future of leading cultural organizations around the world, including: Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and San Francisco Opera.

  • Jessie Andjelic: An architect, urbanist, and educator, Jessie cofounded SPECTACLE Bureau for Architecture and Urbanism in 2013 with Philip Vandermey, following experiences with Sturgess Architecture and Powerhouse Company in Rotterdam. Her range of projects includes museums, cultural and community centers, and public spaces.

  • Isabel Ochoa Quintero: An educator, designer, and fabrication specialist, Isabel's creative practice explores the impact of computational workflows and emerging technologies on ceramic fabrication and architectural production. As co-founder of OCH Works, Isabel explores the intersection of architecture, material computation, and fine craft.

Your Hosts:

  • George Damian: A creative strategist operating at the intersection of technical and creative disciplines, George has spent the past decade helping founders launch projects with confidence after leading some of the world's largest energy projects across North America and the Middle East. George brings a unique mix of industrial know-how and startup acumen from his work with Creative Destruction Lab and Platform Calgary to his private practice, press PLAY, where he serves as Principal and Creative Director.

  • Kayla Browne: As founder of BOLD Workshop Architecture, Kayla is a registered architect with over a decade of experience across diverse typologies - from custom homes and multifamily housing to award-winning restaurant interiors and large-scale transit infrastructure. A strong advocate for inclusive, equitable environments, Kayla is co-founder and advisory board member of BEA Calgary and serves as a member of City of Calgary’s Council Advisory Committee on Housing.

We hope you will join us for another thought-provoking discussion.
