About the Event

India has made significant investments in expanding women's access to education, livelihoods, entrepreneurship and employment. Yet women's economic journeys continue to be characterised by fragmented transitions and uneven opportunities. Women move between employment, caregiving, entrepreneurship, informal work and workforce re-entry, often navigating gaps in access to finance, institutional support, care and enabling policy environments.

As part of Asia Impact House 2026, the Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusive Leadership (CGEIL), XLRI, in partnership with the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), NITI Aayog, is convening an invitation-only Leadership Roundtable on Building Connected Pathways for Women's Economic Journeys.

Bringing together leaders from government, philanthropy, industry, financial institutions, academia, civil society and the entrepreneurship ecosystem, the Roundtable will explore how stronger partnerships, evidence-informed policymaking and collaborative action can enable women to enter, remain, progress and thrive across employment, entrepreneurship and enterprise.

The evening will also feature the launch of WEP's latest publication, providing an evidence-led foundation for the discussions and translating knowledge into actionable priorities.

Discussion Themes

  • Entrepreneurship as a pathway to women's economic agency — examining transitions between employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship, including return-to-work pathways following caregiving and career breaks.

  • Building enabling ecosystems for women-led enterprises — strengthening access to finance, markets, mentorship, entrepreneurship support and enterprise growth pathways.

  • Policy, research and cross-sector collaboration — exploring how government, industry, academia, philanthropy and civil society can work together to strengthen women's economic participation.

  • Scaling solutions and strengthening systems — identifying opportunities for policy convergence, public-private partnerships, evidence generation and scaling successful models and innovations.
