Radiation Exposure Compensation Act Application
Registration
About Event
Do you know someone who lived in New Mexico for at least a year between September 1944 and November 1962 and developed cancer? Come learn about the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) and learn about how New Mexicans are eligible for compensation. RECA provides $100,000 one-time payments to people who developed certain cancers after exposure to radiation from nuclear weapons testing. Together we will look at a brand-new website that examines deposition of radioactive fallout from 101 atmospheric nuclear tests in the contiguous U.S. and learn about the history of RECA and how to complete an application. You might be able to help a loved one or a deceased loved one apply for RECA compensation after this workshop!
