SBIR Unplugged: Featuring Jeff Cummins (vCardio, Immersive Hearing Technologies)
This SBIR Unplugged event will feature KY serial entrepreneur Jeff Cummins for a MiddleTech Double Click. Expanding on the discussion from his Jan 26, 2026 episode (Spotify, YouTube) of the MiddleTech podcast, we will deep dive into Jeff’s experiences with SBIR, Deep-Tech Commercialization, and leveraging KY entrepreneur resources. This episode will specifically delve into strategic business decisions from these deep-tech startup experiences, drawing application for others navigating the startup journey.
Jeff Cummins is co-founder and is leading business development and finance for Immersive Hearing Technologies, a startup that is developing a hearing aid sales and fitting tool that uses virtual reality to demonstrate what hearing aids sound like in real-life settings. Prior to that, Jeff was CEO/President of vCardio, a Louisville-based startup developing a real-time, non-invasive assessment of coronary stenosis. Jeff previously held innovation ecosystem roles at University of Louisville and with the Louisville Healthcare CEO Council.
We will also discuss updates in the ongoing federal SBIR Reauthorization process, and how some federal agencies are preparing for go-live following reauthorization.
