Beginners in Business Workshop
There's a gap between having an idea and actually being open for business. Most people get stuck on this part, because we often don't know how to get started.
This is an evening about that part.
Not a motivational session. Not someone telling you to believe in yourself. Sixty minutes on the unglamorous, genuinely useful middle bit, the decisions and admin that need to be considered before you start "businesessing".
What we'll cover
Is it a business yet? Pressure-testing your idea; who it's actually for, what problem it solves, what you'd charge, and whether the numbers work. Also considering residual income and different types of income streams you need within the same business.
The set-up bit. Sole trader vs limited company, registering with HMRC, business banking, insurance, and what records to keep from day one so January isn't horrific.
Systems. Bookings, invoicing, where your files live, and why you start an email list long before you think you need one
Your first ten customers. Getting visible without a following or a budget
Open floor. Bring whatever you're stuck on. This is usually the most useful part of the night
What you'll leave with
A start-up checklist, a one-page list of the tools actually worth your time, and three clear next actions for your own idea. All sent through by email afterwards.
Who it's for
Anyone starting something, or thinking about it. You don't need a plan, a name, or a logo. Some of you will have a fully-formed idea; some of you have a vague one you haven't said out loud yet. Both are welcome. And if you're already trading but set everything up in a rush and never went back to check, this is for you too.
Can't make Tuesday?
Book anyway. Everyone who books gets the recording.
8:30pm start on purpose: bedtime's done and you can set aside some time specifically for you.
