About This Workshop:

Networking and mentorship don't have to feel transactional or out of reach. This workshop, designed specifically for Black disabled professionals, reimagines both as accessible, relationship centered practices that anyone can engage in authentically.

Join us for the fourth workshop in our Skills Development Series, where we focus on redefining how we communicate, connect, and build professional relationships within and beyond our community. You'll discover how to find and use your voice to create meaningful connections, approach potential mentors or collaborators with confidence, and build a supportive network that feels genuine.

What You'll Learn:

  • How to communicate authentically in networking situations

  • Strategies to identify and approach potential mentors or collaborators

  • Techniques for building and maintaining supportive professional relationships

  • Practical ways to use your voice effectively in public and professional settings as a Black disabled person

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is designed for Black disabled professionals and community members who want to strengthen their communication skills, build genuine networks, or simply feel more comfortable reaching out to others in their field. Whether you're navigating new professional spaces or looking to deepen existing connections, this session is for you.

Previous attendance at other REAL Knowledge Series workshops is helpful but not required—all Black disabled folks are welcome!

What to Expect:

This is an interactive workshop with small group discussions, communication exercises, and practical relationship building activities. Come ready to engage, practice, and leave with concrete strategies to build your professional community. The session is designed to be fully accessible with accommodations available upon request.About the REAL Knowledge Series:

The REAL Knowledge Series (Restorative Education and Awareness Learning) is a national education and awareness certificate program grounded in intersectionality and delivered through a community-based approach. The series challenges anti-Black racism, ableism, social exclusion, gender-based violence, and other intersecting systems of oppression shaping the lived experiences of Black disabled people.

Delivered through the REAL Knowledge Project, the series equips participants with critical knowledge, frameworks, and tools to understand and challenge systemic inequities, while fostering collective growth, leadership, and meaningful community engagement.

The Skills Development Series, a core sub-series of the REAL Knowledge Series, is a six-workshop learning journey designed to build practical, real-world skills. Centered on professional growth, leadership development, advocacy, and self-empowerment, each session focuses on actionable strategies participants can immediately apply to advance their personal, and professional goals.
