Coaching and Collaboration in Parenting
"Why don't you listen?", "Do I have to do everything for you?", "How will you ever learn?", - thoughts akin to these are the ones that send most parents into a desperate spiral.
What if the solution to the most common struggles lay in the struggle itself? Or more specifically, in our collaboration with everyone involved in the struggle.
Imagine that instead of making everything a teaching moment and taking responsibility for solving all the problems, you could relax into partnership with your kid where the needs of everyone could be met?
In this talk we will explore what coaching and collaboration in parenting looks like, share stories of what works (and what doesn't) and answer your questions about what collaboration could look like in your family.
This practical approach to parenting and communication is developed by Althea Jones and Mila Horsey, who are both parents, coaches and educators. It is based on declarative language, non-violent communication, and nervous system regulation.
We know this method works because the foundation has helped many educators, has worked with our own kids, and has helped many families that we work with to overcome struggles and burnout.
This talk would be useful to parents and caregivers of kids of all ages, teachers and education specialists, and especially useful for parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children.
