About Event

The First 15 Minutes · B - Breathing

The airway is open. The patient is still struggling to breathe. What are you missing?

In this session, we’ll work through B in C–ABCDE and make sense of what happens when breathing fails. We’ll link examination findings to the underlying physiology, helping you recognise the problems that need urgent action.

We’ll explore:

  • The difference between moving air and getting oxygen into the blood.

  • Assessing respiratory distress and recognising signs of deterioration.

  • Making sense of urgent chest problems, including pneumothorax and haemothorax, and the principles behind initial support.

For medical students who want to understand what the observations and examination findings are telling them.

Delivered by Dr Budhwani & Dr El Khatib
