​Description

​The web scaled on a simple premise: anyone can host content, any standards-based client can display it, and no single company controls either side.

​Spatial computing now faces the same choice. You can put on AR glasses today, but the current web stack cannot browse geolocated spatial content. Either we build an open, standards-based web for spatial content and services — or we risk staying locked into proprietary walled gardens.

​In this session, Sean Mann (CEO, RP1) and Neil Trevett (President, Metaverse Standards Forum and Khronos Group) will pull back the curtain on the Open Metaverse Browser Initiative and Sneeze — the first open-source metaverse browser engine, hosted at the MSF to invite broad participation from standards bodies and industry. ​ Neil Trevett

​Neil is Vice President of Developer Ecosystems at NVIDIA, empowering developers to harness GPU acceleration. As the elected President of the Khronos Group for twenty-five years, he has helped initiate many widely adopted open standards including glTF, OpenXR, OpenGL ES, Vulkan, and WebGL. Most recently, Neil initiated and serves as President of the Metaverse Standards Forum, which has grown to over 2,600 member organizations.

​ Sean Mann

​Sean Mann, CEO of RP1, is a visionary leader with 25 years of entrepreneurial and technology expertise. In 2023, he was named 'Innovator of the Year' at the WebXR Awards, ranked as a top 20 Metaverse Industry founder by Metaverse Insider, and a featured Industry thought leader on CNBC.
