Meet our panelists:
Iman Mohamed, Acting Director of the Combatting Hate Hub at the Canadian Race Relations Foundation - Iman Mohamed is a nationally recognized leader, strategist, and writer whose work bridges racial justice, anti-hate systems, and equitable access to legal support. As Acting Director of the Combatting Hate Hub at the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, she oversees national efforts to strengthen community partnerships, influence policy, and develop tools that help institutions better prevent and respond to hate across Canada.
Previously, Iman served as Executive Director of the Muslim Legal Support Centre, leading the only dedicated legal clinic for Muslim communities and advancing trauma-informed service delivery across Ontario. She is also the founder of the Muslim Freedom Fund, which provides support to precariously housed Muslims including food security, spiritual care, and improved living conditions. Her career also spans policy and communications with the Ontario New Democrats and senior leadership roles in the nonprofit sector.
Her leadership has been recognized with York University’s Top 30 Changemakers Under 30 award and the Spirit of Schlifer Award, honouring her impact in advancing justice, safety, and dignity for communities across Ontario.
Halla Ahmed, Litigation Associate at Lerners LLP - Lerners LLP is a full-service law firm in Toronto. This is where Halla practices in the areas of health and regulatory law, commercial litigation, and class actions, and regularly appears before the superior courts in both British Columbia and Ontario on class action and administrative law matters.
Halla obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa, following which she served as a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of Justice in Brampton. In her spare time, Halla enjoys organizing and participating in community events that focus on youth civic engagement, inclusivity in the legal profession, and mentorship for Black and Muslim youth.
Amal Mohamoud, Founder & CEO of Hana’s Legacy - Hana Legacy Foundation is a trauma-informed and culturally grounded mental health non-profit inspired by the life and legacy of Amal's mother, Hana. With a background in social work, counselling, and over a decade of experience in the non-profit and community sector, Amal is committed to building accessible healing spaces for Black, Muslim, immigrant, and intergenerational communities. Her work focuses on storytelling, community wellness, and creating programs that honour cultural identity, faith, and mental health. Amal is dedicated to empowering individuals and families to reclaim their stories and find healing through compassion, dignity, and meaningful connection.
Asli Mumin, Chief of Staff, Office of Deputy Mayor Amber Morley - Asli works for the City of Toronto as the Chief of Staff to a Deputy Mayor, playing a key role in navigating complex political landscapes and fostering collaboration across municipal government to drive meaningful change. She works closely with senior leadership, including the Mayor’s Office and the City Manager’s Office, to shape policies and initiatives that strengthen communities.
Asli studied Political Science at the University of Toronto and has contributed to several political campaigns, building grassroots support to ensure marginalized voices are represented. She transitioned to the public service six years ago, first working at the federal level and later moving into municipal government and has since developed deep expertise across both the bureaucratic and political sides of government, helping to advance lasting policy solutions.
As a mother of three, Asli is passionate about expanding opportunities for the next generation and championing civic engagement.
