EYEWITNESS
Overview
Eyewitness is an evening with eight photographers and their photos.
We're hosting it to learn about the value of taking photos. We want to hear you speak to your photos, and give context and texture to the images we usually take for granted or only ever see on the surface.
Photos used to be proof that something happened. Now we assume any image might have been made, and to a machine an image is data, a means to an end. What a machine can't do is be there: stand somewhere, decide this moment matters, take the photo, and come back to it later knowing what it means now.
That part belongs to the photographer.
Format
Albums: Each photographer uploads an album of their selects.
If you'd like to present, please apply and upload your catalogue here.
For the sake of time, we will limit this evening to 8 presenters.
Surface: the album opens on the big screen with no titles or captions, and the room reads it first.
Demo: the photographer speaks to the album. Why they took each photo, what was just outside the frame, and what it's worth to them now.
Close: every photo from the night on one screen.
Requirements
Photographers: upload a set of your own photos, with title and a caption for each.
come prepared to speak to them and share what you learned through the entire process.
Audience: come ready to look closely and say what you see!
this event is open to a broader audience beyond our presenters. come with an abundance mindset, willingness to learn, and a heart of gold.
About New
New is a media company designed to take subjects in technology and culture that the world thinks it already understands, and show them in a way that makes people see them for the first time. We operate through:
New Studio is our production arm in which we work directly with individuals and companies who we believe are working at the frontier of their respective domains to help express their vision through filmmaking.
New Stadium is our collaborative third space in which we enable creatives, technologists, and academics to host events and gather with each other.
