Title: Malignant Hyperthermia: Cellular Mechanisms and Clinical Impact

Course Description:
This continuing education session will review the pathophysiology of malignant hyperthermia and prepare perioperative nurses to recognize and respond effectively to an MH crisis.
CE Credit: 1 Contact Hour

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # 18149, for 1 Contact Hour.
Participants will learn to:
• Describe the cellular mechanisms of MH, including calcium dysregulation and ATP depletion in skeletal muscle
• Recognize clinical signs and initiate immediate management, including dantrolene administration and supportive care
• Differentiate MH from other perioperative complications and develop evidence-based prevention, screening, and emergency response plans
