Filecoin Incentive Reform: Community Forum
The Filecoin community is working through one of the most consequential economic discussions in Filecoin's history: how to move beyond FIL+ and align block rewards with the network's transition to a service economy.
Discussion #1249 on GitHub has drawn input from storage providers, core devs, maintainers, and ecosystem builders. The conversation has evolved significantly from its starting point, with areas of emerging agreement and key design questions still open.
This Community Forum is a chance to take stock. We'll cover:
Where the discussion stands today and what's shifted since it started
The core proposal: deprecating DataCap, granting universal 10x QAP, and introducing a block reward split to fund on-chain storage services
The open design questions the community is still working through, including how service rewards should be allocated and what safeguards are needed
Alternative approaches that have been proposed
This is not a vote on a finalized proposal. No FIP has been drafted yet. The goal is to gather feedback that directly informs what gets proposed next.
