Virtual Campfire with Changemakers: Women's Representation in Ads & Media
Every day, we scroll past countless ads, posts, shows, and headlines featuring women. Who do we see in them? What roles are they playing? And how much of what we see quietly shapes the way we see ourselves and each other?
Join us for Virtual Campfire with Changemakers, our online gathering where we come together beyond borders to spark meaningful conversations, share stories, and hold space for one another. Host Carmen Chan, Founder of Girls Be Change, brings together a small circle of women from around the world to have the conversations we don't always get to have — up close, personal, and honest.
This time, we're turning toward the images and messages we take in every day, often without stopping to notice them.
Our focus is "Women's Representation in Ads & Media." This session is a space to reflect on how women are portrayed across ads, social media, film, TV, and the news — what we see, what we don't, and how it has shaped our sense of self, our relationships, and the choices we make. We'll share what we've noticed in our own lives and cultures, and explore how we might engage with media — as audiences, creators, and consumers — more consciously.
🔥 Bring wood to the fire: Bring one ad, post, show, or headline that stuck with you — for better or worse — or a personal story about a time media shaped how you saw yourself or someone else.
Come ready to share, vent, question, or simply listen. No topic is off-limits. No experience is too small or too complicated.
Joining Carmen for this gathering are Samantha Chung, founder of Ripple Marketing and a sustainable marketing strategist; and Ren Wan, a writer, editor, and sustainability advocate who brought swapping culture to Hong Kong.
This is not a panel. Not a webinar. Not a lecture. It's a circle. What's said here, stays here.
Come as you are. Leave seeing a little more clearly.
In order to curate a more engaging experience, we limit each Virtual Campfire session to 10 participants only. This session will not be recorded.
