About Event

[IN PERSON EVENT IN BERKELEY]

Join us for the 11th seminar from the BioML group in Machine Learning at Berkeley, sponsored by Pillar VC. We're hosting Jacob Ulirsch , group leader and staff bioinformatics scientist at the Illumina artificial intelligence lab.

His research combines statistical and experimental approaches not only to identify which genetic variants and genes shape human traits and contribute to disease risk, but to better understand and model how seemingly small changes in the DNA impact the molecular and cellular processes underlying these phenotypes.Jacob received a BS in mathematics from UNC and a PhD in statistical genetics from Harvard University. Prior to joining Illumina, he developed methods for large-scale genomic data analysis at the Broad Institute and engineered machine-guided synthetic elements for gene therapy at Patch Bio.
