​​Where - in the park

​🌳 As we did last summer, we will be meeting outside in Green Park. Aim for this What3Words location and you should find us: //vote.behave.sticky 🗺️

​🧺 We have chosen Green Park because it is centrally located and near both the tube and an M&S for those who might need to get more picnic supplies. There are also some decent pubs in Mayfair & St James if we have to move indoors.

​🌚🌞 It just happens that we'll be meeting around the time of the 91% solar eclipse. Some of us will bring eclipse glasses (including a few spare). We may start gathering earlier than 18:30. We will send a W3W location when we have found our spot.

​🔥 The image shows a log fire because it looks nice... we're still hoping to meet around a firepit sometime this year. It's now looking like it'll have to be on a colder and darker night now though (for logistical reasons best explained over a drink).

​🍻 What to bring & what to take away

​Yourself. And your open and curious mind.

​🍾 Also, as we will be meeting outside, bring whatever else you want for the evening. We recommend drinks and snacks. If people want to bring things to share, that's lovely, but this is all very ad hoc so we won't insist on it.

​♻️ Please bring a bag with you that can allow you to take rubbish away with you. If we all aim to take away and carefully dispose of more rubbish than we bring, that will be great. ♻️

​If you have a picnic blanket or something else to sit on, that would be really useful.

​Oh, and... this is London... keep an eye on the forecast and prepare for the weather, whatever it may be.

​​🍹About these gatherings

​Long Now London is a group of people who share an interest in long-term thinking.  We have been gathering in a variety of formats, locations and frequencies since 02008. Since 02018 we have met on the second Thursday of the month, usually in a pub, sometimes in a park, and online when necessary. 🍻

​🌎 We are an independent local group inspired by the work of the Long Now Foundation and using their name with permission. Over the years our gatherings have developed their own distinct character and ethos, a reflection of our differing locale both on the planet and within human culture and history.

​We do a variety of things throughout the year, but our monthly gatherings encourage conversations about long-term thinking, 📡 deep time, 🏺 history, 🖌️ art, 🔭 futures, 🛰️ technology, 🔧 maintenance, a wide range of -ologies and -isms depending on the crowd. 🔎

​🌍 We are in regular dialogue with other such groups around the world. 🌏 If you would like to be put in touch with like-minded people where you are, please do get in touch.

​Oh, and we write the year with an additional digit at the front to guard against the deca-millennium bug; 🦠 to encourage our minds towards further horizons, and also because it’s fun.
