Bible-plus-classics reading group, Session 7: Truth
A discussion group where we pair Bible passages with classic texts. No beliefs required!
This is the final session in our spring series, and we're going all-out with the biblical half of the agenda. Even our non-biblical readings are heretical early Christian/Gnostic texts that did not make the cut.
There’s a fair amount of reading this time. We’ll be seeing how whole books fit together in context:
The Gospel of John
The Gospel of Thomas
The Apocryphon of John
From a canon perspective, you could call this one "two lies and a truth". We'll be getting at themes of belief, truth, and hidden knowledge.
Please prepare by reading the texts described in this doc:
(Look under "Session 7: Truth".)
Come see the grand finale if you've been attending often, or feel free to join if it's your first time!

This concludes our spring series, which has been a gentle introduction to the Bible and its echoes. After this, we will break for at least a month or two. When we return, the next season will probably lean more toward the "classic literature and philosophy" half of the agenda, and the Bible pairings will be shorter or co-equal.
