Getting Started with Claude Code & Context Engineering

This beginner-friendly workshop will walk you through installing and using Claude Code, Anthropic’s command-line tool for agentic coding. Along the way, you’ll learn foundational Context Engineering techniques and practical software engineering best practices to help you get better results from AI tools. Depending on time and interest, we may also touch on agentic systems and how they fit into modern development workflows.

What to bring

  • Laptop

  • Claude Pro ($20/month) or Max subscription — sign up here
(Free accounts will not work for this workshop. Some attendees may have access through work, and occasional promotions may be available.)

Good to know

  • We’ll begin with installation, but you’re welcome to install Claude Code ahead of time if you’d like a head start.

  • All basic computer skill levels are welcome. Attendees will come from different backgrounds, so expect to learn from each other as well.
