Ashwagandha and more at New Roots!
Come to New Roots Community Garden in Queens to help us harvest, clean, and make medicine with our beautiful ashwagandha plants! Learn about her story as a traditional medicine, and all about her gifts that help us weather life's storms, ease stress and anxiety, think more clearly, and support our immune system and endocrine system. We'll be making tinctures with the fresh root, some of which you can bring home.
After we work with ashwagandha from around 1-3pm, we'll say hello to the smattering of other medicinal herbs around the garden. We'll see what's good to harvest and make tinctures or ready them to dry for tea.
New Roots is located above the BQE, where 69th St passes over the highway. It's on both sides of the street, but we'll likely start on the west side, next to 41-38 69th St. There is a portapotty but no source of potable water, so bring a water bottle and a hat!
This workshop, because it is at a community garden, will be entirely donation-based. No one will be turned away due to financial restrictions. However, if you are able, we would appreciate donations toward the higher end of our flexible scale which make this workshop—and future workshops—possible. $10 funds the materials needed for each person per class. $25 will fund your materials and those of a neighbor! :) Anything beyond that will put towards future classes.
If you sign up but later decide you can't make it, please let me know before the workshop so I know how much material to bring!
