Overview
The proposed ancillary meeting aims to share new insights on effective interface and coherence between the criminal justice system and informal and community-based justice that can deliver people-centered justice, reduce crime, and sustain peace.
The main objectives of the side event will include:
Share success stories on how improved interface and coherence between formal and customary, informal, and community-based justice actors contributes to access to justice, crime prevention, and peacebuilding
Spotlight evidence-based policy innovation of relevance to Member States participating in the 15th UN Crime Congress
Stimulate substantive action to advance people-centred justice through engagement with diverse pathways to justice
Foster knowledge exchange and coalition-building amongst policymakers, practitioners, and researchers
