About Event

How does the cult of performance affect our learning organizations?

In our previous session, we explored this question together and made several observations:

  • time constraints often prevent deep learning

  • a strong focus on retention, compliance, evaluation and testing can impact the quality of learning

  • dominant learning cultures tend to foster competition rather than collaboration

Then, we challenged our learning cultures through the lens of robustness, and envisioned an “ideal” robust learning system: one that’s collaborative, that leaves space for reflection and experimentation, that teaches learners how to sit with different opinions and where they can learn how to learn.

But when envisioning such a learning system, many questions arise:

  • How do we create the conditions to change our learning cultures? And how can we work on this with clients who are performance-oriented?

  • How do we choose in which contexts performance remains necessary and in which contexts we can create room for robustness?

  • How do we adjust our posture as trainers and pedagogical managers, when we might ourselves have been conditioned by performance-oriented learning experiences?

In this second session, we will work through these questions together.

The objective: to identify actionable steps we can take in order to create more robust learning experiences.

Note: Olivier Hamant won't be there this time.
