CAIRF Seminar Series: Beyond Meditations on Moloch | Ashley Hodgson
Meditations on Moloch captures an important game theory concept that appears everywhere in systems. However, it is a single type of game theory and can be over-projected onto the world. A more mature understanding of game theory is able to zoom back and look at the tapestry of games that interweave competition and cooperation. Cooperation is the more powerful of the competition-cooperation dipole, but power can be used for good or for evil. Games that appear one way at a certain scale in the system sometimes flip and serve a different role when looking at the system from a different scale. Part of game theory involves switching between games and scales.
