​Founder Journey: Michael Freundt Karlsen, Co-founder of Onomondo

​Michael Freundt Karlsen, co-founded Onomondo in 2012 and built it into a Copenhagen deep-tech scale-up that has rebuilt IoT connectivity from the ground up — a single global cellular network spanning 180+ countries. He led the company as CEO through its scaling years, raising from investors like Verdane and Maersk Growth along the way. A serial entrepreneur and former CFO of game studio Playdead, Michael shares what it takes to build a hardware-meets-software business in a highly technical market — and scale it globally from Denmark.

​This time, we’re bringing together an active founder and a founder-turned-investor for a conversation moderated by Michael Wiatr Aagaard, Partner at Antler about what it actually takes to build — and what makes an early-stage investor lean in.

​Mikkel Skarnager is co-founder and CEO of spektr, an AI compliance operating platform that helps banks and fintechs automate compliance work across KYC, KYB and AML — keeping every decision visible and defensible while they launch and scale faster. Before spektr, he led digital onboarding at Saxo Bank and co-founded HelloFlow, which Trulioo acquired less than two years after launch. In 2026, spektr raised a $20M Series A led by NEA, bringing total funding to $26M, and today works with major banks and fintechs including Santander, Nexi and Pleo. As a repeat founder who has built, sold and is now scaling again, he’ll share the honest realities of building — and what it takes to do it a second time.

​Nima Tisdall is CEO and Managing Partner at Nordic Makers, the founder-led fund backing ambitious early-stage Nordic tech companies. She co-founded the sustainable-seafood marketplace Blue Lobster, is a Forbes 30 Under 30 and Obama Foundation European Laureate, and is Operating Partner at Final Frontier, which is raising a €100M fund for pre-seed and seed defence startups across the Nordics and Ukraine. Having gone from building her own company to backing the next wave of Nordic builders, she’ll share what early-stage investors really look for — and the honest realities of building and raising.
