About Event

Artificial intelligence and digital technologies are increasingly shaping how healthcare is delivered, governed, and experienced. From clinical decision support tools to health system planning and research translation, algorithmic systems are becoming embedded across medicine. While these technologies offer real potential to improve outcomes and efficiency, they also raise urgent questions about equity, accountability, and human welfare.

This year's student-run Human Welfare Conference brings together clinicians, researchers, engineers, policymakers, innovators, and students to examine how AI in healthcare can be developed and used to genuinely serve patients and communities. Rather than focusing on technical performance alone, the conference centres on human welfare: asking who benefits from these technologies, who may be excluded, and what responsibilities come with deploying them at scale.

The event is designed as a focused, interdisciplinary forum that moves beyond siloed discussions. Through keynotes, panels, student contributions, and structured synthesis, the conference aims not only to surface critical debates, but to identify shared priorities and practical next steps for more equitable, responsible use of AI in medicine.
