About Event

This program is part of BioBuzz's Career Catalyst series, a weekly virtual program designed for students, recent grads, and early-career professionals navigating the life sciences industry. Our sessions are intentionally built to foster direct, high-quality access to the industry leaders shaping it.

Overview

When people hear “life sciences,” they often picture a scientist working at a lab bench. But that is only one small part of a much bigger industry.

Life sciences also needs people who are great at solving problems, organizing teams, telling stories, working with data, managing projects, building relationships, improving processes, understanding people, and making big ideas happen.

That means there may be a place for you here, even if you have never considered yourself a “science person.”

In this session, we’ll break down the career paths that keep life sciences moving, from research and manufacturing to quality, operations, supply chain, marketing, communications, finance, data, policy, and more. We’ll talk about what these areas actually do, the types of skills they need, and how to start figuring out which ones might be a good fit for you.

We’ll also highlight people who built careers in life sciences from backgrounds you might not expect. Because there is no single degree, major, or career path that leads into this industry.

And if you’re still thinking, “Okay, but where do I fit?” we’ll help you start answering that too. Attendees will be introduced to the BioBuzz Biotech Career Quiz, a personalized tool designed to connect your interests, strengths, and working style with career paths you may want to explore.

You don’t need to leave with your dream job picked out. You just might leave knowing where to start looking.

Key Takeaways

  1. Discover how many careers actually exist in life sciences, including opportunities far beyond research and the lab.

  2. Connect your existing strengths to real career paths, even if your degree or background is not traditionally associated with biotech.

  3. Hear real examples of people who took unexpected paths into the industry through our “More Than a Lab Coat” spotlight.

  4. Get introduced to the BioBuzz Biotech Career Quiz and start identifying careers that match how you think, work, and what you enjoy.

  5. Leave with a clearer place to start, even if you are still figuring out exactly where you want your career to go.
