About Event

The Norwegian tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl is scheduled to arrive in Seattle on Wednesday Oct 22 at 9:00 am. Come out to offer a warm greeting to the ship and crew from our Sister City of Bergen, Norway. The ship set sail from Bergen on April 11, and is including a stop in Seattle on its One Ocean Expedition around the globe. It will arrive back in Bergen in April 2026.

Join us on the Bell Harbor International Conference Center Rooftop Deck for the best view of the ship as it docks in Seattle!

  • The visit is part of the global One Ocean Expedition and coincides with One Ocean Week Seattle (Oct 20–26, 2025) — a week of events focused on ocean sustainability, innovation, and the Blue Economy.

  • The Statsraad Lehmkuhl is more than a beautiful tall ship — built in 1914, she’s spent over a century training sailors, survived two world wars, and continues to sail today. She’s been upgraded to a hybrid-power system and serves as a floating classroom and research platform for ocean science.

  • Her visit highlights Seattle’s role as an international maritime hub and underscores the region’s commitment to ocean health, sustainability, and maritime innovation.

How to Participate

  • Visit her at Pier 66 while she’s docked — enjoy the sight of her masts and sails up in the harbor.

  • Consider joining the sailing leg from Seattle to San Francisco if you’re up for a unique adventure (and training!) aboard a historic tall ship.

  • Bring your camera! The ship makes for a stunning photo backdrop on the waterfront, especially with sails unfurled.

  • Share the moment — welcoming a vessel like this is a celebration of maritime heritage and our connection to the ocean.
