Victorian Genetic Counselling Education Afternoon Hosted by the MIVF Genetic Counselling Team
The Victorian genetic counselling community is warmly invited to attend an upcoming Education Afternoon hosted by the MIVF Genetic Counselling team.
Join us for an afternoon tea and an afternoon of presentations and discussion exploring emerging issues and challenges in reproductive and mitochondrial genetics. MIVF genetic counsellors and embryology staff will present a range of clinically focused topics, including:
Polycystic Kidney Disease: from prenatal presentation to preimplantation genetic testing
When PGT is uncertain: counselling challenges surrounding variants of uncertain significance (VOUS)
Limitations of PGT for mitochondrial conditions
A patient's perspective: living with a mitochondrial disease
Embryology techniques and innovations in mitochondrial donation with Prof Deirdre Zander-Fox
The development of genetic counselling models for MitoHOPE
Doors open at 1:30pm for afternoon tea and coffee, with presentations commencing at 2:00pm. We encourage you to arrive early to enjoy some refreshments and make the most of our fantastic lineup of speakers.
This afternoon will provide an opportunity for learning, discussion, and networking. Genetic counselling students are welcome to attend.

By car: On-site parking is available across two levels (approx. 150 spots). A discounted function rate of $20 per car will apply.
By tram: The 48 or 75 tram runs along Bridge Road — alight at stop 22 (Yarra Blvd/Bridge Rd), which is right outside the hotel.
By train: Hawthorn Station is approximately 950m away (around a 13-minute walk). Trains on the Glen Waverley, Lilydale and Mernda lines stop there.
