[Friday Forum, Dads@Work]: Making Yourself a Priority
There's a version of this conversation where we all nod along and agree that self-care matters. This isn't that conversation.
This session is about getting honest — with each other and ourselves — about what it actually looks like to prioritize your own well-being when you're a dad, a partner, and probably someone with a demanding job. Not the theory of it. The real friction of it.
We'll spend time on a few things:
What does it even mean to make yourself a priority? Not as an abstract value, but as something concrete in your actual life, your actual schedule, your actual relationship, your actual energy levels.
What's in the way? We'll look at the obstacles we name (time, guilt, logistics) and the ones we don't. The stories we tell ourselves that feel true but might be doing more work than they should.
What would be worth changing? If something shifted, what would the payoff be? What would need to be different for you, not in general?
And what would a first step actually look like? Not a whole plan. Just a step.
This is a peer conversation, not a lecture. You don't need to have it figured out to show up. Honesty is more useful here than polish.
We hope you'll join us!
