AI Tinkerers Riyadh - Getting Real with Claude Code (Workshop)

​Join AI Tinkerers Riyadh for an intensive, hands-on workshop focused on moving past basic chat interfaces and integrating agentic workflows directly into your local development environment.

​This session is dedicated entirely to Claude Code- the command-line tool that brings agentic capabilities straight to your terminal. Rather than watching high-level presentations or sliding through decks, you will spend three hours configuring, running, and debugging live code alongside fellow technical builders.

​🕚 Workshop Agenda

• ​11:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Doors Open & Local Environment Setup

• ​11:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Claude Code 101 - core concepts via building

• ​12:00 PM - 01:15PM: Hands-on: attendees implement one thing

• ​1:15 PM – 2:00 PM: Peer-to-Peer Code Walkthroughs & Networking

​💻 Prerequisites & Hardware Requirements

​This is a hands-on building session - expect to type commands, not just watch.

​To participate in the exercises, you must bring your own hardware and meet the following requirements:

• ​Hardware: A laptop (macOS, Linux, or Windows with WSL) with a working terminal environment.

• ​Claude and Claude Code: Anthropic API Key or paid Claude plan, and Claude Code installed locally (curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | sh).

• ​Python 3.11+: check with python --version. Install via python.org (Windows/Mac) or brew install python@3.12 (Mac with Homebrew) or sudo apt install python3.12 (Ubuntu/WSL).

• ​uv (Python package manager): curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh (Mac/Linux/WSL) or pip install uv (Windows fallback). Verify with uv --version.

• ​Skill Level: You use a code editor or AI coding assistant (Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT) and want to understand how agent-style CLI tools work. No deep scripting experience required.

​Arrive with Claude Code installed and verified (claude --version should print a version number). API key set in your terminal (export ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=...). If you can’t get setup done at home, arrive at 10:45.
