​Join us for a "ChalkTalk" with David Willbrand focused on matters of startup capitalization. David takes the mystery out of the jargon, explaining in accessible language what a cap table is, how it comes together, how it evolves and, most importantly, how startups issue equity (whether to incentivize employees, or to raise money!).

​Speaker Bio: Before joining Pacaso as its first Chief Legal Officer, David founded, grew and chaired one of the most prominent startup and venture capital legal practices in the Midwest. At Pacaso, David manages and oversees Legal & Public Affairs. He also previously served as Pacaso’s Head of Europe, where he oversaw the company’s operations in Europe.

​David is the author of “Seed Deals: How to Grow from Startup to Venture Capital,” and he is a Professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where he teaches a popular course on Startups & Venture Capital. He is also an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Miami University (a “Top 10” entrepreneurship program), and with Techstars Silicon Valley (the most prolific pre-seed stage investor globally). David is also Chief Legal Officer at Pacaso, where he leads Legal, People, & Corporate Affairs (which includes Capital Markets, Corporate Development, and External Affairs) — a unified platform designed to help the company grow sustainably, manage risk, and strengthen ties with investors, regulators, and key stakeholders.
