Conspirators Creator Workshop: Listen up! Lessons from outside the bubble
Climate communications has a communications problem.
Too often, climate can feel polarizing, depressing, or disconnected from the realities of everyday life. But people are already experiencing climate change in deeply personal ways (think rising costs, extreme weather, stress, air quality, and impacts on physical and mental health - yikes!). The challenge is not whether people care. It’s whether we’re speaking about these issues in ways that actually feel relevant, human, and trustworthy.
This interactive 45-minute session hosted by Wellcome x TED Countdown x Conspirators brings together creators, experts, and communicators to examine climate storytelling from the outside in. What happens when we move climate out of abstract science and into lived experience? Why are some trusted voices - from health creators to cultural commentators - able to connect with audiences in ways traditional climate messaging often cannot? And what might it take to bring more of these communicators into the conversation without turning them into spokespeople?
Through personal stories, shared expertise, and live audience participation, attendees will explore how trust, attention, and cultural fluency shape engagement today.
Space may be limited to encourage participation and discussion.
