Join Wikimedians of Singapore for a practical beginner-friendly workshop where you will learn how Wikipedia works and make your first properly sourced edit.
No previous editing experience is required.
Workshop: 2:30–4:00 pm
We will cover:
How Wikipedia works
Creating and using an account
Finding something suitable to improve
Editing using VisualEditor
Adding a reliable source and citation
Writing in a neutral and encyclopaedic style
Common beginner mistakes to avoid
Participants will be guided through making at least one simple edit.
Casual editing meetup: 4:00–6:00 pm
After the workshop, stay for a free-and-easy editing session.
You can:
Continue improving an article
Ask for help with an edit or draft
Work on a topic of your own interest
Explore Wikimedia Commons or Wikidata
Meet other Wikipedia contributors
Existing editors are welcome to join from 4:00 pm without attending the introductory workshop.
