Spontaneous & Unorganized Crabs, Baltimore
This is an informal gathering for people who think about information services: how they're built, who they serve, and what they're actually for.
Journalists, researchers, product and audience people, policy folks, librarians, teachers, advocates, technologists, funders: if you spend time thinking about how information moves, who gets it, and what happens when it doesn't, you're welcome here.
No agenda. No panels. No sponsors. Crabs are self-paid.
The name has a backstory: this started as a workaround at a conference that banned any non-sponsored side events. We declared it a non-event to comply, and have been keeping that spirit going ever since: journalism support-industrial complex enshittification defiance.
We met in Buenos Aires, Philly, then DC, now Baltimore-style with crabs. They don't take reservations but we want to call them a bit ahead of time to reserve crabs.
