​Why is it called Dogpatch? No one knows for certain. However, the former working-class neighborhood, Dutchman’s Flat, is now one of the city’s favorite historic districts.

​Walk along to learn how waves of boom and bust transformed this area from the Gold Rush through modern day. You’ll see a blend of historic buildings and modern developments, and hear about some of the people who left their mark on San Francisco.
