In Case You Missed It: How EU Countries Are Implementing Pay Transparency
The EU Pay Transparency Directive leaves plenty of room for interpretation, and countries transposing it into national law are making different calls on the tricky parts.
Join us for a live conversation with Tom Heys, Co Head of the Pay Transparency Directive practice at Lewis Silkin as we dig into how member states are actually handling the tricky issues, not just what the Directive says on paper.
This is especially useful if you're an HR team working across multiple EU jurisdictions, or if you're in a country that hasn't transposed the legislation yet and want a sense of what's likely coming.
Some of the tricky issues we will examine:
Right to information requests – how do you operationalise this new right?
Enforcement - what fines and penalties look like in countries with transposing legislation already in place
Job seeker transparency - whether pay ranges need to appear in the job ad itself, or can be shared another way before interview? How wide can a range be?
Job category definition – Use job level? Or job level AND function? And “working conditions” is missing from lots of existing job levelling systems – how do you solve for this?
GDPR – how do you balance transparency (which says tell everyone everything) with data privacy (which says keep everything as secret as possible)
Employee representatives - how they're being appointed or selected under the new legislation
