Sew Your Own Skirt (No Pattern!)
A beginner-friendly sewing class that combines creativity with practical sewing skills and professional finishing techniques (no serger required + no raw edges will remain). Taught by local sewist Bailey Reber!
Students will design and sew their own custom elastic waist skirt using their personal measurements - no commercial pattern required. Along the way, you'll learn foundational garment construction skills that can be applied to future sewing projects at home.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to:
• Thread and operate a sewing machine
• Sew straight seams with confidence
• Take and record your own measurements
• Calculate and cut your fabric without a pattern
• Create an elastic waistband for a comfortable custom fit
• Finish seams professionally using a standard sewing machine
• Hem your garment for a polished, ready-to-wear finish
By the end of class, you'll leave with a completed skirt, a measurement worksheet to keep for future projects, and the confidence to recreate this garment again on your own.
No prior sewing experience required. Class size is limited to 6 students to ensure plenty of individual guidance and support.
Fabric Notes
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fabric to create a garment that reflects their personal style. A written guide + video explaining fabric selection, yardage requirements, and fabric preparation will be provided after registration.
If you prefer to use the studio's fabric or are unable to purchase your own at this time, some will be available for you during class free-of-charge.

The Collaboratory is located at 21-07 41st Avenue. When you get to the building, please scan the AlphaTouch QR code sign pasted on the door and find The Collaboratory in the directory to be buzzed in. Once inside, you can take the elevator to Floor 2 and find us in Studio #213.
MASK REMINDER
The Collaboratory is a *Masks Required* space. 😷 We also run two air filters/purifiers during our gatherings. If you don't arrive with a mask, don't worry—we'll have them available at the door.

REFUND POLICY
At this time the QNSC is unable to issue refunds except on a case by case basis. If you are unable to attend an event for which you have purchased a ticket, tickets can be transferred to another person at the buyer's arrangement.
