​Ghosts? Terrifying. Navigating the polycrisis? Worse. Getting ghosted by someone who said they were “emotionally available”? Absolutely criminal.

​This Halloween, join us at River Valley Irregulars (RVI) for an evening of spooky trivia, mystery-solving, unexpected plot twists and maybe a little bit of existential dread.

​🎃 6:30–7:00 PM | Dinner & Settling In

​Bring your own dinner, get comfortable, meet fellow curious minds and admire everyone's Halloween looks. Fuel up before the mystery begins!

​🧠 7:00–7:15 PM | Spooky Trivia Icebreaker

​Think you know your creepy folklore, supernatural phenomena and strange facts? Let's find out. Warm up those brains, trust your instincts and get ready to compete for bragging rights!

​🔎 7:15–9:15 PM | Murder Mystery Night

​A mystery. A room full of suspects. Secrets waiting to surface.

​Step into the investigation, examine the clues, question the suspicious and piece together what really happened. Can you separate fact from fiction, spot the red herrings and uncover the culprit before time runs out?

​No detective experience required. Just bring your curiosity, your powers of deduction and your willingness to suspect everyone 👀

​🏆 9:15–9:30 PM | Final Reveal, Closing & Prizes

​Who cracked the case? Who was the mastermind? And who came dressed to distress? We'll wrap up with the big reveal and prizes for our trivia champions and Best Dressed.

​👗 DRESS TO DISTRESS: YOUR COSTUME CHALLENGE

​Come dressed as something that scares you, haunts you or keeps you up at night. Traditional Halloween costumes are welcome, but we want to see your creativity!

​Need inspiration? Here are some themes to play with:

​👻 Supernatural Scares: Pontianaks, haunted dolls, urban legends, creepy folklore and things that go bump in the night.

​💸 The Horrors of Adulthood: Inflation, rent, bills, taxes, job applications, unread emails and your bank account after payday.

​💔 Modern Dating Nightmares: Situationships, mixed signals, commitment issues, red flags and the person who said “let's see where things go”.

​📱 Digital Dystopia: AI taking over, doomscrolling, being perceived online, algorithmic manipulation and accidentally liking a post from 2018.

​🌍 Existential Horror: Climate anxiety, capitalism, the state of the world, the future of humanity and the creeping realisation that we're all just trying our best.

​🫣 Your Personal Nightmare: Your irrational fear, your most cursed experience, your worst fear brought to life, or something completely unhinged that only you could dream up.

​🏆 Prizes for Best Dressed and the Most Creative Interpretation!

​Go spooky, satirical, topical, terrifying or ridiculously clever. You can dress as a literal ghost, the ghosting epidemic, the economy, or your last remaining brain cell. The more imaginative, the better.

• ​Bring your own dinner. We'll have time to eat and settle in before the activities begin.

• ​Come dressed up if you can! Costumes are encouraged (but not compulsory).

• ​Bring your curiosity, your best detective instincts and your appetite for a little chaos.
