Food & Bev, Vol 5: Behind the Scenes with Cookbook Creators
What does it actually take to publish a cookbook? This edition of our food and bev series gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of cookbooks.
We're joined by Maria Zizka, a James Beard Award-nominated author who has written six cookbooks of her own and worked on more than 50 others with chefs like Yotam Ottolenghi and Suzanne Goin. Joyce Tang left tech for culinary school and runs Bake Sum in Oakland. Her first cookbook, written with Soleil Ho, came out in September. And finally, Aya Brackett is the Oakland photographer bringing you so many of your favorite cookbooks. She’s worked with Maria, Joyce, and other Oakland favorites like Samin Nosrat, on her recent book, Good Things.
Hosted by the founder of Showoff, Margarita Florez Vasconcelos and friends, this series is about the origin stories nobody tells and the people who showed up when it mattered. Conversation, Q&A and light snacks..
