ATX Birding Walk + Social
Austin has some of the best urban birding in the country; you just need someone to show you where to look!
Jorge caught our eye on r/Austin for his stunning photos of the birds living right under our noses: painted buntings flashing through the underbrush, woodpeckers drumming against the trees, vireos darting from branch to branch. So we're teaming up for a morning walk and talk!
🌅 The Walk: 7:30AM (West Austin, will send details) A guided birding walk. Jorge will show you his favorite spots, teach you what to look for, and help you spot species you've walked past a hundred times. Capped at 12 people because we don't want to disturb the birds too much! $10 just to cover the cost of the printed materials. BYOBinoculars, or camera with telephoto lens, or we can just share as well!
🌆 The Talk: 10AM @ Civil Goat. A free, public hangout where we'll chat about birds and photography. Jorge will give a brief talk on his favorite Austin birds, the spots he keeps coming back to, how he got into bird photography, the gear he actually uses, and the shot he's still chasing. Then we'll just chat about birds and look at the pretty bird photos! Grab a coffee, bring a friend. Free, but please RSVP so we can give Civil Goat a heads up (btw, this location has actual GOATS!)
You can come to one or both!
🌿 Brought to you by Jorge and WhatsGoodATX!
