Ten Times Bigger: the SoftBank Story + Christmas Drinks
Alok Sama spent the better part of a decade as one of the most consequential dealmakers in global tech, as former President and CFO of SoftBank Group International.
Before that, he held senior roles at Morgan Stanley, Warburg Pincus, andThe Raine Group across more than forty years in global finance.
At SoftBank he sat at the centre of some of the era's defining transactions, working on a portfolio that included Arm Holdings, Yahoo, Nvidia, Uber, Alibaba, and WeWork, almost always alongside the company's famously unpredictable founder, Masayoshi Son.
“Mr. Ten Times" - Masayoshi's nickname at SoftBank
His recent memoir, The Money Trap: Lost Illusions Inside the Tech Bubble, draws on that vantage point. It opens with him spotting Son at a wedding in Italy, "elegantly attired in a white lounge suit" with "the wizened appearance of Yoda," a chance encounter thatredirected his career.
Few people are better placed to give the inside story on one of tech’s most misunderstood giants.
Join us for a rare conversation with Alok, followed by our Christmas drinks party in collaboration with CUTEC and OxFounders.
