Interviewing Essentials & Youth Protection
The most carefully produced session in this series: evidence-based interviewing, youth interviewing, power dynamics, and mandatory reporting all carry real compliance stakes when they're gotten wrong. We'll cover how interviews are prepared and structured, evidence-based questioning techniques, interviewing youth and other vulnerable participants, and maintaining neutrality and professional boundaries throughout. On youth protection specifically, we'll ground the discussion in the AB UCC's power imbalance framework, the concrete safeguards in place for minors during reporting and interviews, and mandatory reporting obligation, including the critical distinction between filing an ABSSCM Report and meeting a personal legal duty to report. Joined by ALIAS, who'll help tackle these topics.
Built for board members and staff who want a clear, practical grounding in interviewing and youth protection compliance.
