Scouts Democracy Badge Training
The Democracy Badge training, developed in partnership with The Politics Project, is designed to give Scout leaders the knowledge and confidence to discuss politics and democracy with Scouts of all ages. The training provides practical examples of how to incorporate democracy into your sessions, as well as guidance on arranging for politicians to visit.
The training covers key areas including:
An overview of how democracy works in Wales and the UK, and the different ways this impacts your local community.
Practical ways to integrate democracy into group nights, empowering young people to have their say on issues taking place in their scout group and communities.
Advice for organising meetings with local politicians and decision-makers.
Guidance on facilitating non-partisan political discussions.
This training will equip leaders to create meaningful opportunities for Scouts to engage with democracy in a fun, respectful, and educational environment, and complete the Democracy Badge.
