ONY/ANY Book Club: Death and Life of Great American Cities

Join us for an book club discussion of The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs on April 30th at 6:30 PM at the Open New York office. Widely considered one of the most influential works on urban planning, Jacobs’ book challenged conventional thinking about city development and champions vibrant, community-centered neighborhoods. While the book has sometimes been painted as NIMBY-adjacent, Jacobs is a much more nuanced thinker, and there's a lot for the YIMBY and abundance movements to learn from her approach to place-making and neighborhood design. This will be a great bookend (pardon the pun) for those who joined the Power Broker book club last winter.
