Ancestors Night
There is an old saying that we die twice: once when we stop breathing, and again when someone says our name for the last time.
Join us for an evening of connection and gratitude as we gather by the water to ensure those who came before us remain part of our present. We will be holding a space to share the stories, names, and legacies of our ancestors—the people who are the reason we are here today. Inspired by the communal spirit of the lamps event back in September, we want to create a space that feels both personal and collective.
The Evening’s Flow:
We will begin with a potluck dinner as the sun sets, allowing us to share nourishment and conversation before we transition into our storytelling and lighting ritual.
What to bring:
A Dish to Share: Please bring a small item or dish for our sunset potluck.
A campfire will be provided
A Story or Name: Come prepared to share a brief story, memory, or simply the name of an ancestor or loved one you wish to honor.
Comforts: A blanket or cushion for seating on the sand, and warm layers for the evening lake breeze.
Let us keep these names spoken, these stories alive, and our community fed and connected.
